These notes describe the derivation of environmental domains, forest type/ domain combinations and species bioclimatic profile group distributions and their preparation for use as biodiversity surrogates for the TARGET program priority area analysis of D.Faith and C.Margules, CSIRO Division of Wildlife and Ecology. The locations to be considered are the Resource Mapping Units (RMU's) from the PNGRIS database. TARGET requires these units be described in terms of their composition of each of the biodiversity surrogate attributes.

The Global Volcanism Program database currently contains 1422 volcanoes with eruptions during the Holocene period (approximately the last 10,000 years). This resource contains the mapped locations of the Holocene volcanoes thoughout the world in shapefile format.

… update of the original global analysis, Reefs at Risk: A Map-Based Indicator of Threats to the World’s Coral Reefs. Reefs at Risk Revisited uses a global map of coral reefs at 500-m resolution, which is 64 times more detailed than the 4-km resolution map used in the 1998 analysis, and benefits from improvements …

Avariety of factors can affect the biodiversity of tropicalmammal communities,
but their relative importance and directionality remain uncertain. Previous
global investigations of mammal functional diversity have relied on range
maps instead of observational data to determine community composition. We
test the effects of species pools, habitat heterogeneity, primary productivity
and human disturbance on the functional diversity (dispersion and richness)
of mammal communities using the largest standardized tropical forest camera

The Papua New Guinea Resource Information System (PNGRIS) is a micro-computer-based georeferenced database containing information on natural resources, population distribution, rural land use, small-holder economic activity and land use potential (Bellamy 1986). It is compiled at 1:500 000 scale for approximately 5000 Resource Mapping Units (RMUs) covering the entire land area of Papua New Guinea (PNG).

This is our 8th edition of an annotated checklist of all recognized and named taxa of the world’s modern chelonian fauna, documenting recent changes and controversies in nomenclature through early 2017, and including all primary synonyms, updated from 7 previous checklists (Turtle Taxonomy Working Group 2007b, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014; Rhodin et al. 2008). We provide an updated comprehensive listing of taxonomy, names, and conservation status of all turtles and tortoises of the world, including detailed distribution maps.

Sustainable Land Use Policy (SLUP) is a systematic and iterative procedure carried out in order to create an enabling environment for sustainable development (Wehrmann.B, 2011). It assess the physical, socio-economic, institutional and legal potentials and constraints with respect to an optimal and sustainable use of land resources and empowers people to make decisions about how to allocate those resources.

This report presents the results of a rapid biodiversity inventory of the Bogoro Inlet and Motupore Island within the Bootless Bay (a large embayment bordering the South-eastern side of the expanding Port Moresby City), Central Province, Papua New Guinea. The biodiversity survey was conducted at Tahira on the eastern coast of Bogoro Inlet and Motupore Island which is a small island about 1km from the coastline of Tahira (see maps in the main report).

This list of indicators was developed through the Inform project at SPREP for use by Pacific Islands countries (PICs) to meet their national and international reporting obligations. The indicators are typically adopted by PICs for their State of Environment reports and are intended to be re-used for a range of MEA and SDG reporting targets. The indicators have been designed to be measurable and repeatable so that countries can track key aspect of environmental health over time.
