This Guidebook is primarily targeted at practitioners of solid waste management in Pacific island countries and territories. Many parts of this book are also applicable, either directly or with modifications, to other small island developing states where similar problems associated with solid waste are common.

The Papua New Guinea High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF) toolkit was developed through consultative processes and peer reviewing by experts and stakeholders. The HCVF concept was initially developed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for use in forest management certification. Within FSC certification, for compliance with Principle 9, forest managers are required to identify any High Conservation Values (HCVs) that occur within their individual forest management units and manage them in order to maintain or enhance the values identified.

Since 2008, PNG has benefitted from the European Commission funded and ILO implemented child labour project called TACKLE (Tackling Child Labour through Education) implemented in 12 countries (including eight countries in Africa, two in the Caribbean and Fiji and Papua New Guinea in the Pacific).
The purpose of this report is to plot series of programs that will enable the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery to develop the competencies, procedures and approaches and necessary to carry out this function in a sustainable manner so it can preserve the Kokoda and WW2 collections. This report is also aimed at identifying the priorities in the Kokoda Collection.
