"The Papua New Guinea agricultural sector…
Agriculture s the foundation of and heart of the rural PNG economy with over 85% of its 7.5 million people depending on the sector for their livelihoods. This sector is faced with so many challenges including climate change, lack of access to markets and so on. The access to suitable and timely information and knowledge is also seen to be one of the key drawbacks of agriculture advancement in PNG.
The country required smarter approaches and new innovations to build a modern and internationally competitive and agriculture sector. Thus the PNG E-agriculture Strategy (2017-2023) sets a new direction in view of the emerging opportunities in technology to bridge the information and knowledge gap.
The framework embraces the Government's focus to be smarter and innovative in increasing revenue, entrepreneurship and investment in the sector.
